Bass sweep, 20 Hz to 200 Hz

A slow sweep through the subwoofer and bass range, where rooms and enclosures cause the most trouble.

Volume first. Turn your device volume down before pressing play, then raise it slowly. Tones start quiet on purpose. Very low tones can damage small speakers and woofers if pushed hard. Stop if you hear rattling, distortion or cone slap.

0 dBFS is the loudest your device can play; every 20 dB lower is a tenth of the amplitude.

The WAV is rendered on your device at 48 kHz, 16-bit stereo, using the settings above, so you can play it from a USB stick, a TV or measurement software.

What to listen for

Listen for swells (room modes), buzzes (loose panels, cabinet doors) and the point where your speakers fade out. Compare the swells with the room mode calculator.

Every other range, including custom start and end points and presets, is on the main frequency sweep generator.
